Volvo Car India collaborates with artist Subodh Kerkar to spotlight pedestrian safety through a compelling artwork during National Road Safety Month 2025. In a unique initiative to raise awareness about pedestrian safety, Volvo Car India has joined forces with acclaimed artist Subodh Kerkar to unveil “The Most Ignored Painting.” This thought-provoking project emphasizes the critical role of zebra crossings and the need for safer road practices.

A Powerful Message Through Art

As part of National Road Safety Month 2025, The Stainless Gallery in New Delhi hosted the unveiling of Kerkar’s impactful artwork. The piece captures the fleeting presence of zebra crossings—freshly painted at night yet quickly fading beneath heavy traffic by morning. It serves as a visual representation of the neglect pedestrians face on Indian roads. “Zebra crossings are not just road markings; they are crucial safety zones for pedestrians,” said Subodh Kerkar. “Through this artwork, I hope to initiate a meaningful dialogue on road safety and inspire greater responsibility towards pedestrian rights.”

Volvo’s Commitment to Safer Roads

Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, emphasized the brand’s dedication to safety:

“Safety is at the core of Volvo’s philosophy. This collaboration with Subodh Kerkar allows us to go beyond conventional awareness campaigns and use art as a medium to drive impactful change. Our goal is to create safer roads for all.”

A Social Media Sensation

The initiative has gained significant traction on social media, with Kerkar’s Instagram reel on “The Most Ignored Painting” sparking widespread engagement and discussions about road safety awareness. Through this art-meets-advocacy approach, Volvo Car India reinforces its mission to promote responsible driving and pedestrian safety nationwide.
